I am the former Controller for Birmingham Country Club and just recently retired after over 33 years there. I saw the annual Christmas decorations go through many changes and directions throughout the years and was very pleased when Lorrie Boone was willing to take on the endeavor. The decorations had been done over the previous years by a few women members who basically just rearranged a few things and did minimal updates — they were sorely in need of an entire overhaul.
Lorrie came into the Club, met with numerous people, and worked with them to develop a detailed vision of what everyone was looking for. This was at times challenging due to several key staffing changes, but she made sure to bring new personnel up to speed. She involved staff and was excellent about keeping everyone informed and up to date, including the timing of installation, which can always be a challenge with Club functions and events.
She was always mindful of the budget she was given and skilled at delivering results that looked far beyond what the numbers might suggest. She also conducted a thorough assessment of the Club’s existing décor inventory, identifying pieces that could be thoughtfully incorporated or refreshed to complement the new design, and advising on what to retire. It was a smart and efficient approach that any client would appreciate.
She worked with staff throughout the entire year and was always very reliable and timely on every task. The decorations themselves, the overall layout and design, and the attention to detail are just spectacular when dealing with Lorrie. The membership was in awe with the changes and each year wanted her to expand into another area of the Club and add additional decorations where there had previously been none. Each year she addressed those areas, giving management detailed designs and cost estimates, and then proceeded to wow everyone again the next year.
I would highly recommend Lorrie for any decorating project. She is a joy to work with and has a creativity that shines through in each and every one of her designs.
